The order for the gym uniforms will be placed soon. Extra sizes will be ordered.
Starting October 1st email for all teachers will be the first initial and the first 7 letters of the last name with CDeducation.org. This is an official Diocesan web address so the Diocesan can send information directly to the teachers.
The art room will need volunteers this year.
At last month's meeting we discussed having programs for parents.
There will be a parent information night about cyber bullying and instant messenging. Lt. Bash will come for the program and is available Oct 12, 18th or 19th. We are going to invite St. Timothy and Our Lady of Peace to the program.
A speaker is still needed for the boys since last year we had a program for the girls.
We discussed programs we would like to cover. Nancy stated that any topics Mrs. Duffy is doing with the students could be presented to the parents.
Sue talked about a class from Childrens Hospital that is available called Education for Safety, Raising Streetsmart Kids.
The Kiln for the art room has been purchased for $2,365. A 220 line is needed on the third floor. The line will have to be ran from the boiler room to the third floor. An estimate of $2,346 was given from one of the contractors who worked on the construction last year. Cheryl suggested that we should ask an electrician in our parish for a bid. Sue said the money is dedicated for the project and we should go ahead to get the electric done as soon as possible. Nancy suggested that the school should get another estimate. The kiln is in and the check is being written by Lisa tonight.
The new bibles for the 5th and 6th grade have been selected. The Hoffmans are giving the school a discount and will order the bibles.

OLD Business
Nancy stated there was a larger crowd for the ice cream social.
Suggestions given for next year were discussed:
Introduce the teachers
Have new families meeet with someone to walk them around the school
Use mentoring chairpeople to show the school and answer questions

The H&S newsletter will be added to the school newsletter that is sent out every month. Schree will help Crissie with the newsletter. The newsletter will be needed to the office by the 23rd. A thank you to all who have paid their dues and a reminder for those who haven't will be put in the newsletter.
The H&S website : Phil said that anyone who needs help, he will help them.
We discussed that the IC website is not user friendly. Mr. Grossman will ask questions to see what can be done.

New Business
Nancy discussed having H&S social events. Is there a way to raise money with having adult activities? By having events for adults we can get to know other parents.
H&S is responsible for two donut socials at church: the first sunday in September and the first sunday in June. There was a committee responsible but Nancy and Sabrina agree that we don't need another committee. H&S will cover the donut social at church.

Parent/Student dance
Maureen Carroll presented information on having a dance this winter which includes the students and their parents. If it can be done in February we could have a Valentines day dance. Maureen stated that we could get food donated and have a DJ. Cheryl said we should include K-6 since the junior high has their dances.
Issues discussed:
the less expensive it is, the more people will come
use it as a H&S sponsored event
Structure is needed to keep the parents with the kids
make sure it isn't the same week as the skating party

Playgroud equipment: Nancy stated that jump ropes are missing for use at recess. The jump ropes are left outside after recess and we discussed about having the playground monitors gathering them up.
The tetherballs don't always get put up at recess and the students are not allowed to put them up. Mr. Grossman will designate an adult to put them up. A list of recess rules written by Mr. Grossman were given to Kathy and she will give them to the volunteers.
Katrina help: Nancy stated that Alice Lieberman has been in contact with a school in Baton Rouge who have no uniforms and they are impossible to buy due to all the damage. H&S discussed adopting this school. Mr. Grossman said we can have a map of the school and use letter writing between the students. Alice will contact the school to see what items are needed and we can continue to help them throughout the school year. Mrs. Thompson said when the students packed items for the soldiers last year it became real to them about what things are needed.

Next meeting is October 11th at 7pm
